SAFETY IN OPERATION COURSE NR 12 ENGLISH
How to obtain the Safety in
Operation Course - NR 12?
The course aims to provide
participants with the necessary knowledge to identify and mitigate the main
risks associated with the use of machinery and equipment, implement appropriate
protection measures, carry out inspections and preventive maintenance, and
guide operators on the safe use of equipment, meeting the requirements of the
Brazilian regulatory standard NR 12.
What Safety Measures Should Be
Adopted in Operations with Machinery and Equipment?
The main safety measures that must
be adopted in operations with machinery and equipment are:
Installation of safety devices:
Use of guards, locks, sensors, emergency stop systems and other devices that
prevent access to hazardous areas during the operation of the machines.
Regular preventive maintenance:
Conducting inspections, adjustments, and replacements of worn parts in order to
keep equipment in good working condition and ensure the proper functioning of
safety systems.
Supply of Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE): Provide operators with the necessary PPE, such as gloves,
safety glasses, appropriate footwear, among others, according to the specific
risks of each activity.
Qualification and training of
operators: Train workers on the correct and safe use of machines, emergency
procedures, and the importance of adopting safety measures.
Signage and demarcation of
areas: Establish and maintain clear and visible signage, delimiting risk
areas, escape routes, and safety instructions.
Monitoring and access control:
Restricting the access of unauthorized persons to the operating areas of
machines, keeping access records and supervision of activities.
Action plans in case of
emergency: Define and disseminate the procedures to be adopted in emergency
situations, such as breakdowns, fires and accidents, to minimize damage and
preserve the integrity of workers.
How should the electrical
circuits of command and power of machines and equipment that are or may be in
direct or indirect contact with water or corrosive agents be designed?
The electrical control and power
circuits of machines and equipment that are or may be in direct or indirect
contact with water or corrosive agents must be designed with means and devices
that ensure:
Shielding: Circuits must be
properly shielded to prevent direct contact with water or corrosive agents.
Watertightness: The
circuits must have systems that guarantee watertightness, preventing the entry
of water or corrosive agents.
Insulation: Circuit
components and connections must have an adequate level of insulation in order
to prevent electric shocks and short circuits.
Grounding: Circuits must be
properly grounded, providing a low-resistance path for unwanted electrical
currents to flow.
These electrical protection
measures aim to prevent the occurrence of accidents, such as electric shocks,
fires, and damage to equipment, when electrical circuits are exposed to
environments with the presence of water or corrosive agents.
